True Freedom

Freedom. It's what this country was founded upon. The Constitution of the United States guarantees us certain freedoms. Freedom of speech. Freedom of the press. And freedom of religion. These are a few of the liberties we enjoy in our great nation.

Lately, though, it seems that our freedoms have come under attack. As the government tries to seize more and more power, it is gaining more control over our lives and limiting our freedom. Sadly, this may only get worse over time.

The government may succeed in limiting some of our freedoms as citizens. But there is one freedom it will never be able to take away. That's the freedom we have in Christ.

When we come to Jesus and make Him the lord of our lives, He forgives our sins and sets us free. John 8:36 says, "If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed."

Jesus came to proclaim freedom for the captives and to release us from the penalty of sin.

There is no greater freedom than this! And no one can steal it from us. We can be free eternally because Jesus came to set us free.

As we celebrate Independence Day, let's remember what true freedom is. True freedom can only come from God through our savior Jesus Christ.
