TV (Waste)Land

What's happened to TV? There's nothing decent to watch anymore. Shows are full of foul language and sex.... and people think it's funny!

Television has come a long way, and not for the better. In the "olden days," there were fun, family shows. We had classics like "Andy Griffith Show," "I Love Lucy" and "The Dick Van Dyke Show," where Rob and Laura slept in separate beds. In the '70s, we had "Happy Days," where the raciest language was about two teenagers "necking" in the back of a car. (Mom even thought that was dirty!)

I loved all those old shows. Now, you can't even watch a sit-com without hearing vulgar language and seeing everyone jumping in bed with each other. It's even on TV Land! I tried to watch an episode of "Hot in Cleveland" on TV Land the other day. There was so much trash talk and innuendos, I turned it off. Why do people think that's funny?

Now, it seems that anything is accepted on TV. Most shows must have a gay character to be "politically correct." The shows portray the gay lifestyle as normal.

Even some news programs have a pro-gay bias. I like to watch ABC's "What Would You Do?" The show uses hidden cameras to see how people react to ethical dilemmas. In the past, the show has tackled issues like drunken driving and teen drinking. It's good to see the show encouraging people to act responsibly in those situations. But nearly every week, the show has a scene dealing with a gay couple or a gay teen "coming out." The show casts people who speak out against homosexuality in a negative light but applauds those who support the gay lifestyle.

Then, when you thought TV couldn't get any worse, ABC comes out with a show mocking Christianity. The show's title, "GCB," originally stood for "Good Christian B**ches" but was changed to "Good Christian Belles." I haven't seen the show, and from what I've heard about it, I don't want to see it. But I wonder what would happen if ABC had a show called "Good Muslim B's."

The sad thing is that so many people have bought into TV's ultra-liberal agendas by watching this filth. If people would stop watching these kinds of programs, they couldn't stay on the air. Think about what you're watching. For me, I'll stick with Andy Griffith and Fox News!
